What to Check in a Gloucester Hotel Wedding Contract

Heather Balawender September 15, 2026 Green Weddings Leave a Comment

You would expect that when you sign a hotel wedding contract the small print does matter more than most people think.

Minimum Spend Commitments

Minimum spend commitments are common in hotel wedding contracts. Check what costs will be included in the minimum spend, and what you’ll be expected to pay for if you have fewer guests than you originally expected.

Cancellation and Postponement Terms

Also find out what percentage of costs you would have to pay and how cancellation differs from postponement. This is your chance to read through a consumer contract and understand your rights before signing.

Exclusivity Clauses

Also check that the exclusive use promised in the contract includes all function rooms, the grounds and gardens and car parking facilities as well as the rooms booked for your party.

Third-Party Supplier Rules

Will there be restrictions on your choice of third party suppliers (such as your chosen caterer, florist, or photographer) and will there be corkage charged if you serve your own wine at the function?

Deposit Schedule and Payment Milestones

Note every payment date and amount and whether or not any part of these payments are refundable. Typically you will be required to pay a non-refundable holding deposit and then a number of staged payments up to the wedding date at which point the venue will hope to have earned the full amount of cost for your Gloucester Hotel Wedding Venue.

Damage Deposits

Check the amount of the damage deposit, when it is returned and what the venue can deduct and why.

Read all clauses carefully today to avoid problems later.
